Proposal Guide for Potential Sponsors
The following is a guide for creating a proposal for a 499 Report of an Investigation. The topic headings listed should give you an idea of what to write. Proposals should be sent to the 499 Office at the Management Student Centre. (Please refer to the full contact details).
Purpose of the Investigation
List the overall goal and objectives that you would like the project to achieve.
Sponsor's Supervisor Background
Give a brief description of the person (yourself or another nominated contact person) and your/their position in the sponsoring organisation.
Give a brief background of your organisation, its business activities, industry and mission statement, etc (if different from the above).
Give a description of the background or situation around the problem that needs investigation. For example, why is the investigation important? how did the problem or issue arise? etc..
Estimated time required for project completion
The deadline, if any, that the report is required within. Students are usually given up to six months to complete a 499 project, although the project may be completed earlier depending on the agreement between the student and the sponsor, and the advice given by the supervisor.
Level of financial assistance to the project
There are usually two scenarios for financial assistance a Sponsor pursues:
- Cover all 499 expenses (includes phone calls, petrol costs, printing and photocopying etc.) or
- Cover all costs including remuneration to the student
If you are unsure about any part of this proposal guide, or you are unsure about the project itself, please contact the 499 Office to discuss the details.
